MARATHON RELAY
HybridX × Coastline: Marathon Relay is a team endurance event that brings together two of North Wales’ biggest fitness communities.
Teams of three work together to complete the full 42.2km marathon distance around the track, with only one teammate running at a time.
With the freedom to decide how you split the distance, the race is as much about teamwork and strategy as it is about speed.
Below, you'll find the workout structure and all race related information.
01
RACE FORMAT
The challenge is to complete the full 42.2km marathon distance as a team of three, with only one athlete running at any time.
How you tackle the distance is entirely up to you. Split the kilometres equally or let your strongest runner take on a bigger share. The strategy is yours.
Team of 3: Each team must consist of three registered athletes.
One runner at a time: Only one teammate can be on the track completing the distance at any given time.
Flexible distances: Teammates can divide the 42.2km however they choose. Equal distances are not required.
400m changeovers: All runner changes must take place within the designated changeover area, at the completion of a full 400m lap.

HANDOVER
RULES
Teams can choose how many laps each athlete completes before handing over the baton.
You are not required to change runners every 400m, but all changeovers must take place at the end of a full lap, in 400m increments.
For example, an athlete can complete 400m, 800m, 1,200m, 1,600m or more before handing over to their teammate.
All baton changes must take place within the designated handover area.
The choice is yours. Plan your strategy, manage your team’s energy and decide how best to tackle the 42.2km.
